In 2016, there will be an abundant amount of films in theaters. In my opinion 2016, will be the year for movies especially comic book movies. One that I’m highly anticipating, is X-Men: Apocalypse coming out May 27, 2016. I’ve been a X-Men fan since before I was born, I remember watching them with the rest of my Saturday morning cartoons. I have gathered all the information, news and rumors I was able to find; and have come up with a what I believe is relevant or newsworthy.

First things first, Bryan Singer is back, yes that’s right the director who was born to direct the X-Men, the mutant with the power to direct phenomenal superhero movies, the one who cleaned up Bret Ratner’s not so great third installment, yes that Bryan Singer. He is responsible for X-Men, X-Men 2 United, X-Men First Class and the timeline redeeming X-Men Days of Future Past. This, with out a shadow of doubt or a single worry will be a glorious film, why , mainly because Captain B.Singer is at the helm. He is one of the best directors of our time, both professionally and generously, he has been posting numerous behind the scenes pictures and videos keeping his anxious audience updated.

Confirmed Cast

The phenomenal four of the younger X-Men trilogy are back again,  Xavier (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult). Also returning is Havok (Lucas Till), the scene stealing speedster Quicksilver (Evan Peters) who will be having a bigger role this time around , William Stryker (Josh Helman) and returning from First Class; Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne).

New to the X-Men franchise are younger versions of fan favorites and already established characters in the X-Men franchise; Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and my second favorite X-Men after Wolverine; Nightcrawler  (Kodi Smit-McPhee). Since Days of Future Past altered the timeline now we have new versions of Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Angel (Ben Hardy), Jubilee (Lana Condor) and Blob who will be played by an unannounced local actor . From the clips seen in the trailers both Nightcrawler and Angel take part in some type of mutant cage fighting, which is a very cool and unique twist. Singer just knows how to make a great film adding his own unique elements. If that wasn’t enough scoops of cool and greatness the final trailer after much wait and speculation revealed that Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) will be in the film, and it will be more than just a cameo like he did in First Class.

We will also witness the introduction of Caliban (Tómas Lemarquis)  and arguably the greatest threat the X-Men have ever faced Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac). Apocalypse and his four horseman has always caused chaos and cataclysmic destruction, he truly lives up to his name. Apocalypse was always my favorite villain he always tested the heroes and brought out their maximum potential.

Side note Olivia Munn is so Hotttt…check out her showing her skills. She is defintely going to be a great Psylocke.

Drop kick it like it's…

The Plot

The film was written by Michael Dougherty, Dan Harris, Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer. Professor X (who will be going bald)image credit: Byran Singer

will be starting a new generation of X-Men. This new team will face off against the villain, if you couldn’t deduce from the title,  Apocalypse…finally after waiting so many years!!! I have read from numerous sources that this film will have the most impact and will feature a whole lot of destruction, it will also culminate the trilogy First Class commenced  . It is also being dubbed the true birth of the X-Men. Here is the official synopsis:

“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”

The four horseman of Apocalypse have been selected and I must say, it is the deadliest incarnation of this fatal foursome. We have Magneto, who most likely is the horseman of War“Rage. Pain. Vengeance.”

Psylocke who might be Pestilence “Lethal. Fierce. Merciless.”

Storm(that’s right Ororo Munroe) who makes sense as Famine “Fury. Lost. Survivor.”

and last but not least Angel, who will make his debut as the Archangel and horseman of Death“Savage. Dark. Fallen.
